For the past couple weeks I have been getting emails from Apple about my MobileMe account.  Apple doesn’t like it anymore, it is dumping it and Apple doesn’t care about the fact that I like it just the way it is.  Being from Maine and a pretty independent thinker, that bugs me.

Today I had some time (as my time was running out on MobileMe), to upgrade to iCloud and I tried.  I get this screen and as I proceed (and we could post a few screen shots, but I will spare you.)

As I proceed, I am told my “Operating System” isn’t compatible, even tho less than a year ago I bought SNOW LEOPARD and this new fangled thing they want me to have is LION.  I am not a fan of new releases of anything. There are bugs and a learning curve and I don’t have time for that.

“Isn’t that special…”

It isn’t bad enough that Apple is against me, when I go to my Gmail Account I see this:

NICE!  2 times in one day, I am mandated by other companies and people that have decided what is good for me.  Meanwhile I am a business person.  Trying to make deadlines, trying to keep customers happy and trying to generate NEW customers.

I am fortunate that I have the people @Sephone to help me.  Sometimes I realize I may ask questions that seem silly, but they answer me anyway and always help me.  Surely, it is because I am an owner @Sephone, but being the nature of these folks, they always have patience for me.  But try calling Apple or even better Google.  Just because their business is technology doesn’t mean that YOU have to stop your life in order to accommodate what was simple yesterday!

There is nothing more comforting to me than to know I can share something with someone and not be judged, called or treated like I was stupid.  In this technology world we can never forget there are PEOPLE behind the keyboard.  Our clients come to us because they are too busy running their businesses (a very good thing), to worry about what “Operating System” they have on their various devices. Many small business do NOT have an IT person and when some do they wear many hats.  There is no way for the person worrying about the phones to keep up with the technology on desktops, much less the internet.

We are not Google.
We are Sephone. Call us. We are people too.
