Holiday Checkup

October 14, 2016

As much as some us are reluctant to admit, (this guy included), the holidays are fast approaching.  With that in mind, I thought that I would take a couple minutes to discuss your website with you, to see if it is ready for the upcoming holiday season.

Many businesses think that their website is a “Set it and forget it” type thing, once they launch or update their site, they don’t touch it again.  I am here to tell you that this is not the best thinking.

Keeping your website up-to-date and updated is a key way to engage with new and old customers, and show that you are active in your business and their needs.  It can also show the search engines that your website isn’t stale, and encourages them to “crawl” it more often.

So what are some things that you can do to get your site and business ready for the upcoming season?

Make things easy to find

Website visitors don’t want to hunt for things on your website.  This doesn’t mean that you should put everything on one page, but make important or relevant parts of your site stick out. You can use a slider or content rotator to show multiple bits of content or images in a small space.

Entice your visitors

Make your visitors want to purchase from you over your competition.  Offer specials, coupons, and other things to encourage your visitors to shop with YOU.  Even if you don’t have an e-commerce site, you can still get people into your store by engaging them with online content through your website.

Use social media

Social media is such a powerful tool to get your word out and invite customers to find you.  You can post pictures, offer specials, hold contests, giveaways and more.  Utilizing these tools can help to drive traffic to your site, and keep customers walking through the door. ($)

Refresh your site

Take the time to give your site a bit of TLC.  Update the content and pictures to reflect new products, employees, store changes, etc.  Doing so shows your customers that you are engaged in your business, and want to earn their patronage.

These are just some of the simple things  you can do to help your site and business for the upcoming holiday season.  If you need help with these things, give a shout, and we will see what we can do to help you make the most of your online presence.
